I tested it out and while the setupSortModeSelector hook runs and adds the select element (in a slightly different spot, I think the CSS may have changed), I'm having some trouble debugging why your sort functions aren't working on 2.2.2

@genevieve Thanks. I've tested this on v 2.2.3 and 2.2.4. I don't have access to v 2.2.2 to test it. The sorting uses CSS selectors to find entry attributes to sort on. It is likely to break if the selectors are different. I suggest looking at the CSS classes in your version and adjust the code accordingly.
