It's incredible that the #web still has no way to convert between binary data (such as Uint8Array) and base64 or hex encoded strings... btoa/atob only works if your "binary data" can be in a String, Uint8Array.fromHex/fromBase64/toHex/toBase64 is only supported in Firefox and Safari... #javascript

Just started a new project, `betterer-json`. It's like JSON Patch, except it's javascript.

You write your script match like a JSON Patch - use JSONPath to select values to process, each value is sent to a callback, and its result is put back in the JSON document.

This example changes '"format": "datetime"' to '"format": "date-time"' across json document

I have been using #Miniflux as my feed reader for a couple of years now. It is intentionally minimalistic, and hence it lacks certain features. One thing that I sorely miss is the capability to sort the feed entries by various criteria like entry reading time etc. Thankfully, Miniflux lets users customize the UI by injecting custom #JavaScript code via settings. So I took this in my own hands (see the attached image).

When I have some time to kill, I'll make a Desktop Environment Framework using #NuxtJS with #NuxtUI and #SQLite.

In my mind: apps would work seamlessly between desktop environment, no matter the flavor.

The idea: Apps are processes, Desktop Bus ties Window to App, multiple Desktops (screens).

I have been using Reeder on my laptop as my #FeedReader app backed by #Miniflux for a while now. Recently, I found myself often clicking away from Reeder to the original #blog posts in the browser.

I realised that most of the blogs I follow do not need sanitisation as done by #feed readers because they are usually well-designed and do not contain ads. In fact, some of them are great looking, and have their own unique looks. I noticed that I prefer #reading them in the browser, in their full glory, with their different styles, instead of all of them looking same black-and-white minimal-styled text in the reading pane of Reeder.

So, I went out looking for a feed reader that manages subscriptions like usual, but instead of having it's own reading pane, opens the articles in a side-by-side browser pane. And I found NONE.

So I hacked my own using some custom #CSS and #JavaScript added to the Miniflux UI. Learn about it in my latest note: https://notes.abhinavsarkar.net/2024/customizing-miniflux
